THOMAS LEE GRIFFTHS
ABOUT
VOID
Thomas Lee Griffiths’ practice is an inquiry into queerness, confronting conventions of sexuality and binary gender ideals. Associated archetypes are challenged through digital media and sculpture. The work makes playful use of materiality and coded symbolism to infiltrate spaces of masculine hegemony. It examines the arising subjects of sexuality, "effeminacy", and the fetishization of idealised hypermasculinity. It questions the fluctuating boundaries between these polar opposite cultures. Sensual-yet-gauche representations combine with tongue-in-cheek humour to convey these narratives.
